Pineross is a Tucson-based experimental folk project led by songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer Kevin Larkin. With roots in Celtic, bluegrass, and world music, Pineross incorporates electronically manipulated field recordings, sound design, and performance art into their performances and recordings. Larkin spent the last decade creating theatrical productions with Denver based art-folk band Chimney Choir (named Denver’s best Folk Band in 2017), performing while suspended from trees during the Breckenridge International Festival of Art, and designing an interactive sound installation as Artist in Residence at Great Sand Dunes National Park. He has collaborated with filmmakers, puppeteers, dancers, environmentalists, songwriters, and poets. Pineross’ latest release, Dragoon, was inspired by the harsh and beautiful landscape of the Sonoran desert. The music takes listeners on a journey into the borderlands, where history and mythology blend into a polarized reality.
